AG Coakley to Address Chamber July 18

Attorney
General Martha Coakley will speak to the Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce on
July 18 about her candidacy for governor and her vision for the state’s future,
as well as answer audience questions.

Coakley
will appear at the Chamber’s Public Policy Forum set for 7:30-9 a.m., July 18
at the Devens Common Center, 31 Andrews Parkway, Devens. The event, which
includes a full breakfast, is open to the public at $25 for chamber members and
$35 for future members.

A
Democratic candidate for governor, Coakley is the state’s first female Attorney
General and previously served as Middlesex County District Attorney.
According to her campaign, “Martha has been a national leader in addressing the
economic crisis by holding big banks accountable and keeping people in their
homes, protected civil rights as the first Attorney General to successfully
challenge the Defense of Marriage Act, tackled fraud and corruption, championed
major initiatives to address the costs of health care and energy, and recovered
hundreds of millions of dollars back for the Commonwealth’s taxpayers.
Martha is a passionate advocate for public safety, bringing justice to victims
of crime and their families while implementing innovative prevention programs
in our schools and communities.”

Coakley
is the last of the four major candidates for governor to meet with the chamber
in the past 18 months.  Republican candidate Charlie Baker spoke to the
chamber last spring, and Coakley’s opponents in the Democratic primary, Steve
Grossman and Don Berwick have previously appeared.
