Williams Avenue Man Allegedly Threatens to Burn Down Disrespectful Neighbor's Furniture

The following information was supplied by the Westford Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

May 15, 1:09 p.m. – Police were dispatched to a bank in town for a counterfeit $100 bill deposited a day earlier by a business in town.

The bank official told the officer on the call that another business recently also deposited a counterfeit bill, and it is bank policy to contact the Secret Service for all counterfeit bills they find.

From there, the officer went to the business that had deposited the bill a day earlier, where a manager said they normally check for counterfeits on large bills, but a new employee was working that day.

May 20, 6:46 p.m. – An officer was requested on Williams Avenue for a man complaining his neighbor on the next street causing issues.

Specifically, he said the owner of that house had been cutting through wetland areas nearby onto his property and that his property had become a dumping ground for leaves, grass clipping and tree trimmings for years.

He had contacted town officials, who advised him to contact them immediately if he saw the neighbor entering the wetlands area again.

However, when the man told the neighbor he was going to build a fence between their properties to stop the trespassing, the neighbor said he would tear it down. At this point the man told the neighbor that he would burn down his burn down his furniture, although he said he was not serious in this threat, only saying it due to exasperation with the neighbor’s trespassing.

A “no trespassing” sign was noticed by the officer in the man’s backyard.

The officer then talked to the neighbor, who corroborated the man’s threat to burn his furniture, but said he had not been told to stay off the man’s property, saying that occasionally his dog ran into the woods and needed to be retrieved.

From here, the officer issued a verbal no trespassing request and said that the man would be hiring a surveyor to find out the true property line, also telling the neighbor to keep his dog on a leash.
