Town of Westford Declares Local Emergency

At 6 p.m. on Monday night, the town declared a state of local emergency, estimating that more than 1,200 homes were without power last night.

A local state of emergency was declared in Westford at 6 p.m. on Monday night, with estimates of more than 1,200 homes still without power, primarily in Nabnasset and Parker Village.

After a slow recovery from last year's storm brought grilling from local officials, this year National Grid pledges it has learned from its mistakes, although no estimated recovery times will be available until sometime this morning.

Westford Public Schools and Nashoba Valley Technical High School will be closed today. Trash pickup will return, with Monday's scheduled pickups occurring today.

For any additional houses losing power, call 800-465-1212 and not 911. Residents can also call 978-399-2067 for additional pre-recorded emergency information.

We will have more information here on Westford Patch throughout the day.
