The man behind last year's recall election is now claiming that Chelmsford Open Space Stewardship and Oak Hill Committee member Phil Stanway wishes to work with the Selectmen to start logging on Oak Hill.



Macaroni Grill to Pay $20K in Fines After Failing Health Inspection

The Macaroni Grill failed a routine health inspection last December with 31 violations, according to Health Department Director Ruth Clay. The restaurant will pay $20,000 in fines.  During a routine health inspection on Dec. 18, Macaroni Grill had 31 violations including six critical violations and 25 non-critical violations.

North Reading: 

North Reading SSBC Plans Special Election and Town Meeting for School Building Project

  Late in 2012, the Secondary Schools Building Committee (SSBC) learned that some line items exceeded original budget estimates for the school building project. With the construction documents for the project currently 60 percent complete, the SSBC foresees more cost overruns once the documents are 90 percent complete. Therefore, they plan to ask the town for additional funds at a Special Election and Special Town Meeting.


Medford to Re-Examine Winter Parking Ban

At the urging of residents, the Medford City Council this week resolved to look into implementing changes to the city's annual winter parking ban. From Dec. 1 to April 1, parking is restricted to just one side of city streets from 12 to 7 a.m. regardless of weather conditions. Residents have complained about a lack of available spaces in thickly-populated areas and that the ban is enforced more strictly in some areas than others.


Man Revived During Bruins Practice in Wilmington

Terry Gardner was at Ristuccia Arena with a few of his friends to watch the Boston Bruins take the ice for practice. But he was hard at work before long.

Gardner was among the group of on and off duty emergency personnel who saved the life of a man who had a cardiac episode in the stands on Thursday morning.


Mobile Video-Based Trailer Drills Officers in Firearms and Communication:

Police officers took part in a virtual training last week behind the Stoneham Police Department, where the Middlesex Sheriff Department's Mobile Training Center parked for six days as officers were drilled in both firearms training and how to use verbal commands to de-escalate situations involving guns.


Redfin, a real estate website, named Somerville as one of the country's 16 "hottest up-and-coming neighborhoods" for 2013, according to a recent post on its blog.


Level 3 Sex Offender Arrested for Allegedly Evading Registration

 A Saugus man is under arrest and facing arraignment in Malden District Court today, after authorities allege he misreported his residence in the sex offender registry and lived near a Malden school's athletic fields and a day care center.
