"We believe that Jon Golnik is the right kind of representative for the citizens of our third district. Jon understands that we are in a jobless recovery and that continuing with the current failed economic strategy, this will go on indefinitely,"  said Groton Republican Committee chairwoman Deirdre Slavin-Mitchell. "Jon has a clear and strong jobs creation plan. It is time to take a different path. We simply can't afford another two years with Niki Tsongas."

Golnik has already been endorsed by the Republican Town Commitees in Shirley, Concord and Carlisle while also receiving endorsements from U.S. Senator Scott Brown, and former Massachusetts governor Paul Cellucci.

#3. Fiscal Year 2013 First and Second Quarter Tax Bills.... were mailed on June 29.

The first quarter is due on August 1 and the second quarter is due on November 1.

These are considered "preliminary," or estimated tax bills. The final bills for FY '13 will come out in December.

More information, as well as finding the status of a payment can be done at the Tax collection page on the Westford town website.

#4. Want to Get Rid of Your Used Books?: is raising money through donations of new and used books, CDs, DVDs, records and audio books.

The group has recently placed a drop-off donation container to collect these items from community members who’d like to repurpose their used goods while also helping the parish raise money. The group will be paid on an ongoing basis for all items collected in their donation container.

The gray book donation container, distinguished by its purple and yellow ‘Got Books?’ signs, is located in the parking lot across the street from the church at 107 North Main St.

This program is an ongoing fundraiser and donations can be made by the public at any time. All funds raised through the collection of these donations will benefit the general funding of the church.
