Local Pilates Studio Expands – Meets Needs of the Health Conscious and Hosts Open House on Saturday, December 7

Westford Pilates, based on Rte 110 in Chelmsford, recently expanded to meet the needs of those who are looking for ways to exercise safely in a more personalized environment as well as to accommodate their Pilates apparatus called the Reformer. The Reformer is an exercise machine that uses spring resistance for a full body workout.

Pilates movements are designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. Using controlled and precise movements to engage the deep muscles, Pilates works to develop core strength, improve conditioning and to provide a foundation for professional sports training and physical rehabilitation.

For those curious about whether Pilates is right for them, Westford Pilates is hosting an Open House on Saturday, December 7 from 9 – 11am at their Chelmsford studio.  There will be an introductory class at 9:30am, coupons for the winter session, and an opportunity to try out the Pilates apparatus called the reformer.

Student, Kate Muir came to Pilates to strengthen her back and summed up her experience this way. “I have benefited from learning and practicing Pilates on multiple fronts.   My posture has improved, I have lost weight, and my body has become more toned.” Other students report reduction in back pain, improvements in posture, strength and stamina and an overall sense of well-being.

Westford Pilates is a local business, owned and operated by Chris Kandianis who has been teaching Pilates for 7 years. She is STOTT™ Pilates certified, is an ACSM certified personal trainer, and trained yoga instructor. She regularly attends workshops to expand her knowledge and repertoire.
