'The American Templars' is Available on DVD

Film was shot in Westford.

A feature film shot in Westford last summer has been released and is available for purchase on Amazon.com.

“The American Templars” is a full-length film which originally premiered at the Westford Regency in front of more than 500 people last October.

The “indie film” has been modified and enhanced based on feedback from that screening. More than half of the film was shot in Westford and more than 50 Westford residents appear in the film as extras.

The movie, an adaptation of Westford resident David S. Brody’s novel, "Cabal of the Westford Knight," is based on the legend of the Westford Knight, in which Scottish explorers are said to have sailed to North America and eventually Westford in 1398.

The legend is evidenced by the Westford Knight carving on Depot Street, which has been featured on documentaries on History Channel, Discovery Channel, Travel Channel and PBS. The film has been released on Amazon while the production company negotiates for worldwide distribution.

“People should not expect a Hollywood-quality production," Brody noted, "but it’s a fun, action-packed movie and a great way to spend two hours.”
