Five Things: Summerfest, 4-H, Chess and More

Here are five pieces of information to start your Friday in Westford.

1. Busy Weekend: Don't forget, Summerfest kicks off this weekend in Westford. First on Saturday is Blues 'n' Brews, followed by Pig 'n' Pepper on Sunday. Check out our preview story for full details.

2. Chess Anyone?: The Westford Chess Club is looking to get back to work. Head over to their announcement page to find out how you can get involved.

3. Sports Season Approaching: With Westford Academy athletes officially in action as of last week, fall season is here. But when does game action start? The answer is Monday. The girls soccer team holds a scrimmage against Belmont beginning at 4 p.m.

4. Weekend Starting Weather: According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will reach about 83 degrees to go along with mostly sunny skies. There is, however, a chance of isolated thunderstorms and showers in the afternoon.

5. ICYMIIn case you missed it the Middlesex County 4-H Fair is scheduled to begin on Friday. The event, which features youths from around the county, runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and will include a wide range of exhibits.
