Despite Rescue Efforts, Bobcat and Unborn Kittens Killed in Westford

According to a report in the Lowell Sun, Animal Control Officer Jaime Berry attempted to save the injured animal but was unable to.

According to a report in the Lowell Sun, a bobcat and three unborn kittens were killed recently after being struck by a passing vehicle on Boston Road.

Then newspaper reported that Town Manager Jodi Ross last week praised the efforts of Animal Control Officer Jaime Berry after she rushed the injured animal to a nearby veterinary hospital in an attempt to save it.

Bobcats being struck in Westford are rare. Control Officer Meg Mizzoni told the Lowell Sun that this is only the second such occurrence she's seen in her 10 years with the department.

"A valiant effort was made to save that bobcat," Ross said during last week's Board of Selectmen meeting, according to The Sun. "I just wanted to say thank you to Jaime for doing that."
