Sullivan Hits Two Homeruns in 15-2 Win over Wayland

It was a slugfest on Friday afternoon as WA celebrated senior night at the field. Coming up with their fifth straight win, the ghosts mercied Wayland in the fifth inning. Senior captain Alexa Sullivan had a huge game, going 4 for 4, with two homeruns, two doubles and 5 RBI’s. Emily Chateauneuf continued her homerun-hitting streak with a homerun and 2 RBI’s.  Wayland started the game strong with a 2 run homerun in the top of the first, but those were the only runs scored for the visiting team. Westford responded in the bottom of the first with a triple from sophomore Kayla Murphy followed by the first homer by Sullivan. The top of the third, Morgan Ross hit a single to reach, followed by another single by Chateauneuf. Sullivan doubled to send them both home. Sullivan then scored after a steal and an errant throw. Christie Raymond singled and eventually scored when Olivia Antonelli blasted a single to center. Kayleigh McHugh and Ally Mooney finished up the inning scoring two more runs before the inning was complete.

The bottom of the fourth started with the second homerun by Sullivan, a  solo over the center field fence. Raymond and Antonelli added two more singles before Murphy, Ross, and Sullivan hit doubles that bounced off the fence. Chateauneuf followed with her own homerun blast, her ninth of the season. The game ended at the fifth with Westford holding a 13 run lead. After the game, the four seniors were recognized. Emily Chateauneuf, Deanna Johnston, Christie Raymond and Alexa Sullivan are playing their last season at WA. The ghosts need one more win to clinch a spot in the playoffs. They have five more games, all on the road. The next game is scheduled for Monday in Weston.
