A Successful but Rainy Allergy Walk

The weather didn't cooperate, but no one let that get to them too much as we gathered at Hopkinton State Park on Sunday for the FARE Walk for Food Allergies. My son says it's always like Halloween for him as he visits all the tables of vendors promoting products for people with allergies. Finally - a place full of treats that he can enjoy! (There were only a few disappointments - milk showing up in an ingredient list - but he had a full bag on the way out!) He was also thrilled to introduce his grandparents and siblings to his allergist who was staffing a table. It always means a lot that his doctor takes time out of his weekend to be there.

This was an incredibly successful day for FARE. The original goal for the day was to raise $80,000. As of today the Boston walk brought in $99,633!

Team Westford was a proud contributor to this effort. With 30 registered walkers, we were the largest group there and we were asked to head the walk. Our kids were all VERY excited and proud to be out in front. As you may recall, we had set a goal of raising $2,500. The community support was unbelievable and we are thrilled to announce that our current total is $3,936. We are committed to bringing our final to over $4,000 by the end of the weekend.

Thank you to all who have followed our journey. We'll continue to blog here about food allergy issues and information. If you are a family managing food allergies, please feel free to email the Westford Food Allergy Network (westfordallergy@gmail.com). We have occasional get togethers and an online forum to share ideas and resources.
