5 T: A Household Pet Blessing, Rain to Come & More

Five things to know in Westford on Tuesday, July 23.

1. Later this week: The United Methodist Church of Westford is offering a 9:30 a.m. outdoor service at the edge of Mill Pond on Sunday. Bring your household pet to get it blessed at a special pet blessing after the ceremony at 10:30 a.m.

2. The Board of Selectmen will meet Tuesday at 7:30.

3. Looks like rain! According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will be cloudy with a high near 80, chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

4. Reader Comment of the Day: From Cori Ryan, on Wayne Wagner's photo of a hummingbird moth: "I think these guys are really neat. Nice photo, Wayne! I do not recall ever seeing these when I was young and it was only in the past few years that I noticed them. It took me a few years to be able to photograph one and send it to Marianne Harmon to be identified. I finally caught one with my iPhone over on the trail system at the intersection of Stony Brook Road at Main Street. Mine was not as colorful; it was mostly brown with white. Marianne said mine was a "Sphynx" hummingbird moth. It looked soft, but there was no way I was going to touch it. :)"

5. ICYMI: We began a video series featuring stands at the Westford farmers market. Dragonfly Farms says it has many customers who return week after week for the fresh produce.
