The Bible: Guidepost or Weapon

First Parish Church United, 48 Main St, Westford, MA | Get Directions »
FREE

This three-part multimedia series will explore themes from The Good Book by Peter Gomes along with the movie For the Bible Tells Me So. Engage with others as we explore various ways in which the Bible provides a basis for our beliefs about gay and women's rights.  The final session will expand into other current issues as well in order to better understand how the Bible fits into our contemporary, pluralistic world; influences ours and others beliefs; and directly affects our own lives.

The format will include presentation, group discussion and personal reflection, as well as movie watching.  While not required, you are encouraged to read the book; to get a reserved copy mention First Parish at the front desk of the Westford Library. Our goals are to widen our discussion of inclusion and explore our beliefs as part of the liberal church.

Class begins at 4:30, with coffee and pastry served before each session at 4:15.  While it is not necessary to attend all three sessions, that would provide the best continuity.
