I'm hoping to drive my old beater into the ground before we need to get another car, but I'm on the lookout. What's your next car going to be?
My wife and I drive a perfectly good 2002 Nissan Sentra with 127,318 miles on it. "Stella" has four wheels and gets us from Point A to Point B. We've reached the stage in the life of the car where we don't repair body damage (as you can tell from the accompanying photo). I'm ashamed for my Dad to see it. But hey, it's paid for. Even though I'd love to get 200K miles out of Stella, she has some mechanical problems, like a seized bolt that has left the transmission fluid unchangeable for about eight years. She could conk out any old day. So we've been on the lookout for our next car. I'm paying attention to car commercials, asking friends about their cars. You know the feeling. Results from a recent executive survey ranked Massachusetts 47th for business.
A CEO magazine ranks Massachusetts as one of the worst states in the nation for business. Chief Executive Magazine ranked Massachusetts 47th based on a survey of corporate leaders. Survey respondents reported the Bay State is one of the worst for taxation and regulation. The state Republican Party is pointing to the survey and saying that Gov. Deval Patrick and the Democratic-led Legislature are bad for the economy and business. What do you think about Massachusetts’ business climate? Is this a good state in which to do business?

The Planning Board unanimously moved to recommend to the Selectmen that Westford support the town of Norton's home rule petition to get clearer guidelines for affordable housing, or 40B, regulations.
Earlier this week, the Planning Board unanimously moved to recommend to the Selectmen that Westford support the town of Norton in its efforts in getting the state legislature to help with a home rule petition regarding affordable housing, also known as 40B housing due to its chapter in Massachusetts state law. Designed to help towns maintain stock of affordable housing for lower income individuals, the law allows developers to supercede certain local bylaws in municipalities that have less than 10 percent of its housing defined as affordable.
