A Westford Resident Could Be In The New Adam Sandler/Taylor Lautner Movie

"Grownups 2" set to film in Tewksbury next week, and Westford residents are welcome to apply for a spot in the movie.

Rumors and speculation regarding scenes for the new Adam Sandler movie "Grownups 2" being filmed in Tewksbury were confirmed this week. The production crew will be filming at the Tewksbury KMart at least one day (May 23) next week and possibly more. It's unclear, at this time, which of the cast members will be in Tewksbury for the shoot. What is clear, however, is that a child from Westford might have the chance to appear in the movie. The following casting announcement was published recently by Sande Alessi Casting of Boston. "CASTING NOTICE: Grown Ups 2 -- Shoots Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in Tewksbury, MA.  REDHEAD KIDS: PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT IF YOU CAME TO OPEN CALL. WE HAVE ALREADY PULLED EVERY REDHEAD IN THIS AGE GROUP FROM THE FILES. …

Cottages in the Woods Get Good News from ZBA

In a move approved by the board, the development on Boston Road received permission to get occupancy permits for units ready for residents prior to the completion of the entire project.

Cottages in the Woods, an affordable housing development just off Exit 32 on Boston Road across from Coldwell Banker, received a boost from the Zoning Board of Appeals on Wednesday night. The development was given an amendment to their comprehensive permit that would allow individual occupancy permits to be given for each unit on a unit by unit basis. Before the decision, which passed without any opposition, occupancy permits would not have been allowed prior to the total completion of the development. While Cottages in the Woods attorney Douglas Deschenes indicated that two occupants are set to move in and could do so as early as Friday barring any other pending issues, the project had been more difficult than expected due to disputes …

The fact is that the developer of the Cottages in the Woods is suppose to have his "Utility Easements" all worked out and installed before any Individual Unit is sold and an Occupancy Permit is issued. The ZBA is suppose to be checking on and enforcing this and not allowing Occupancy Permits to be issued individually for each Unit! In the past, I have seen that whenever a Developer is granted …   more ›

Westford's Sonus Reports Disappointing First Quarter

It was a poor first quarter for the Tech Park East company, due in part to investments hampering short-term profit margins

Marketwatch and Worcester Business Journal announced a poor first quarter showing for the Tech Park East-based Sonus Systems, which announced $17 million in gross revenue and $13.2 in gross product revenue for the first quarter of 2012. That total was higher than first quarter totals from 2011, but their $64.3 million in net revenue was $10 million lower than their fourth quarter 2011 results, due in large part to investments incurred by the company. "The Company has strong momentum in the high-growth Session Border Controller market," said Ray Dolan, President and Chief Executive Officer. "We believe our current product portfolio is giving us a competitive advantage, enabling us to grow faster than industry growth rates. We will …

Koko Fit Club Seeks Success at New Littleton Road Location

Koko Fit Club co-owners Lori and Jeff Granville hope to duplicate the success they found in Harvard and Acton at their new location at Westford Valley Marketplace 2.

Ready or not, here comes Koko. Located at Westford Valley Marketplace 2, Koko Fit Club unexpectedly opened its doors on Monday to the delight of members at Lori and Jeff Granville’s other Koko locations in Harvard and Acton who happened to be in the area, and now they’re looking to make their mark on Littleton Road. “We’ve never really done a grand opening type of event at our other stores,” said Lori. “As far as we’re concerned, it’s open. If you build it, they will come, we hope.” The club sees itself not as a gym, but a personal training center where all most of the training is done by computer programs and USB drives that store personal exercise data ranging from overall fitness plans to how quickly a certain amount of weight was …

$69.00 per month? Are you serious? That calculates into $828.00 per year. What is it that you get for this? Really, does the populace of Westford have this much extra disposable income to throw away on this "belly-button fitness worshiping nonsense"? Apparently so, since a Boost Fitness just opened up further down on Route 110 (in Westford), too! I am serious about keeping in shape, but I don't …   more ›

Heather, can I make a recommendation to you? If you really want to purchase some of the freshest fish (as in: it came off the fishing boat that early morning and was picked up, packed, labeled, handled, and properly iced) than you need to check out (try and purchase) Elsha Ewing's, Globe Fish. She is now offering home delivery to Westford and hopefully, I am keeping my fingers crossed here, that …   more ›

Who Makes The Best Cupcakes in Westford?

It's time for what might be the biggest Best of Readers' Choice ever in Westford!

This week, our Best of Readers' Choice contest focuses on the trend in town we broke back in January: cupcakes! It's up to you to decide who's the best, here are our contestants. They were the first of our cupcake stories on January 26, and its also our only contestant with a storefront, sharing a building with Floral Arts. Will that be enough for Kate Kelly's claim for the best cupcakes in town? Quickly on the heels of Sugar, we featured Sweet Sarahlines on February 9. Run by Texas Road mom Sarah Santos along with her husband and kids who serve as taste testers, Sweet Sarahlines isn't a cupcake store, but a cupcake delivery service: bringing cupcakes to your home and helping to organize cupcake themed parties. We showcased Melissa …
