Volunteers compile town’s 20th directory
Every two years since 1976 volunteers have come together in the fall to update names and phone numbers in the Westford Directory so a new edition can be printed and mailed free-of-charge to every home and business in town.
Again, this year, residents are able to update their listing in the White Pages either by sending back the yellow post card mailed town-wide in late September or by going online to directory@westford.com.
The directory’s yellow pages advertise Westford businesses exclusively for a fraction of the cost of the bigger phone books and it’s for two years.
Begun as a fundraiser for the Roudenbush Community Center, the Westford Directory raised almost a quarter of a million dollars for the Roudenbush from 1976 to 2002. From there, proceeds went to the Parish Center for the Arts, and four years ago, to build the bandstand on the town common. The Westford Charitable Foundation, Inc. took the reigns from Ellen Harde and published the 2010/2011 directory. All proceeds benefit town charities.
Volunteers will continue to compile phone numbers and sell ads until mid December. By January, the 2013/2014 Westford Directory will head to the printer and the new edition will be in mailboxes in February.
Businesses are encouraged to advertise. You make this directory possible! Go to directory@westford.com.

here here, let's kill more trees by going old school with directories and clogging snail mail with requests to fix my listing so even more trees can be destroyed...but hey, I do need a new one of these to keep my kitchen table level.
