Who Makes The Best Cupcakes in Westford?
It's time for what might be the biggest Best of Readers' Choice ever in Westford!
This week, our Best of Readers' Choice contest focuses on the trend in town we broke back in January: cupcakes!
It's up to you to decide who's the best, here are our contestants.
- Sugar Cupcake Shoppe
They were the first of our cupcake stories on January 26, and its also our only contestant with a storefront, sharing a building with Floral Arts. Will that be enough for Kate Kelly's claim for the best cupcakes in town?
- Sweet Sarahlines
Quickly on the heels of Sugar, we featured Sweet Sarahlines on February 9. Run by Texas Road mom Sarah Santos along with her husband and kids who serve as taste testers, Sweet Sarahlines isn't a cupcake store, but a cupcake delivery service: bringing cupcakes to your home and helping to organize cupcake themed parties.
- Sweetpea's Bakery
We showcased Melissa Guillemette's cupcake company on April 2, and shares the catering background of Kelly and the homebased location of Santos, operating on Southwick Circle near the Littleton border.
- Sweet Visions Patisserie
We took a look at Gail Flannery's story on May 7, but unlike our other three contestants, her Sweet Visions Patisserie does not focus on cupcakes, but instead offers a wide array of treats, sweet and savory.
If there are any more aspiring cupcake makers in town, please e-mail us at westford@patch.com! We'll make sure to cover your story and include you in feature contests, but for now the questions remains: which one of these four bakers will be Westford's first Queen of the Cupcake?

Just a clarification that, although Sweetpeas Bakery does indeed include cupcakes on our menu, we also offer custom cakes (the majority of our business), cookies & macarons! We are by no means only a "cupcake company."
We have been in business since September 2011 and strive for outstanding product quality through the use organic & natural ingredients in all of our baked goods! :-)

How can I cast a vote for Kimball Farms Country Store cupcakes? They are not a "cupcake store", but the cupcakes they have are nummy and creative.

At this point, I doubt this will be our last Best of Readers' Choice on cupcakes! Plenty more pastry related stories in Westford, and I'll make sure to get Kimball Farms as one of them in the next few months.

Thank you for including me. I make french pastries, breakfast pastries, custom cakes, small bites (sweet & savory) cookies, bars and more- as well as cater parties and portable vintage tea parties. Sweet Visions Patisserie uses only the finest ingredients and will exceed your expectations. Bon Appetit.

I saw (since I had a hard time parking and getting into the PCA for my Pilates class upstairs), last Thursday night, that there was a "Cupcake Wars" held from 5:30 (didn't open the doors until 5:50) until 7:00 P.M.
You should have seen all the people that came out, from far and wide, to try these Cupcakes! The tasting was FREE, well received with a human line winding down both sides of the front of the PCA doors, and all the quartered Cupcakes were gobbled up within 20 minutes!!
I am just so "jealous" that I didn't get to try them, since they were gone by the time my Pilates Class finished at 7:00 P.M.
I hear that two of your Reader's Choice Cupcake Makers, Sweetpeas (what a great name Melissa) and Sweet Sarahlines, baked and attended.
I can't vote yet, because I have only had the chance to try just one Reader's Choice Cupcake Makers, Sugar Cupcake Shoppe. So it just isn't far to my stomach to vote on just one, but someday I will get to try the others and then I can form a voting opinion.
Thank you Andrew for hosting this!

Kathleen, I am so sorry you were unable to try any samples at the Cupcake Taste-Off on Thursday night! We had no idea how many people were going to attend and the turnout was much greater than anticipated- I went through 300 mini cupcakes in the blink of an eye! I often have extra cupcakes from orders, if you'd like, you can email me and I'd be more than happy to give you a call next time so you can sample some! My email is: mysweetpeasbakery@gmail.com
And thank you for the compliment about my business name- I wanted it to be something reminiscent of the "Old Westford", back when there were only a few stop lights in town and everyone knew one another. Westford has really built up since then and I wanted to bring people back to that memory. :-)

Just wanted to say "Thank you" to the Patch and the other local entities that have played a part in helping to bring additional attention to all of our bakeries. We are lucky to live in a community that supports and encourages talented bakers like ourselves!

Sweetpea's makes the best cupcakes hands down! They also make an amazing special ocassion cake that will take your breath away when you see it. When you eat it all you'll do is dream about how it tasted. Melissa is a creative, young and inspiring business woman. She is the future of this industry!
