What Advice Would You Give Incoming Westford Academy Freshmen?

Freshman year is a tough year - what advice would you give?

As the calendar flips to August, thoughts start to turn to the first day of the new school year.

When Westford Academy opens its doors for the school year, a brand new crop of freshmen will begin the wild, four-year (in most cases) journey that is high school.

So we pose the question -- What advice would you offer to the incoming Class of 2016?

I would tell a new freshman to be aware 'good faith negotiations' means something entire new in WPS these days and that if they break the rules make sure mom or dad holds a key position in town (or is connected to someone who does) so the rules apply differently for you!

Both you and Franklin need to get a life. This was not for your belly aching, it was for the students (from people WHO CARE) clearly neither of you fall into that group!

I sure hope that Franklin is not a teacher in the system.

Sharpen your pencils, cover your book, don't chew gum or give teacher dirty looks

Poison is the name of a 1980s Hair Metal band if I am not mistaken, just bringing up a point intended to unify the membership going into kickoff that though settled the troops are still not ready to be silenced with the scars of the past year, WEA represent

Oh the SCARS, how can they possibly make it through the year. Hope they covered the scars while basking in the sun all summer long.

On a more related note, students need to remember that they will now be held to a higher standard of individual responsibility.

Randy,
Will they though really? I know this is often said but are students in fact held to a 'higher standard' at WA?

Depends on the parents, by teachers they are. Whether or not entitlement continues at home is another issue.

What about the ADMINISTRATION consistently and equitably doing so?

Smile, be kind, be open to meeting new people, respect EVERYONE in the school, don't be afraid to ask teachers questions--especially in the beginning. Remember that there is no 3rd floor, and no pool.
