Westford Sees Unemployment Remain Steady in September
Westford's municipal unemployment rate remained at 5.2 percent in September, more than one percent lower than the state average.
According to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, Westford saw its unemployment rate remain steady and well under state and national levels.
In the department's most recent report, Westford now has an unemployment rate of 5.2 percent, the same as in August.
In that same timeframe, Massachusetts saw unemployment climb from 6.5 percent to 6.6 percent, while the nation as a whole saw a similarly minor increase from 7.8 to 7.9 percent.
Among Westford's neighboring towns, September saw unemployment decreases for Chelmsford (5.5 to 5.3), Littleton (4.7 to 4.9), Tyngsborough (6.9 to 6.5) and increases for Carlisle (4.0 to 4.7), Acton (3.9 to 4.3) and Groton (4.6 to 4.9).
