Westford Sees Almost 100 New Jobs in October

The Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development indicated in their latest report that job growth climbed incrementally in Westford for the month of October.

 

Unemployment in Westford continues to remain well under state and national averages following October data published recently.

According to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development(EOLWD), Westford's workforce climbed from 11,998 in September to 12,099 in October, accompanied 628 unemployed residents, compared to 625 in September.

That kept the unemployment rate at 5.2 percent, where it has remained since July and just below the 5.3 percent average for all of 2011. 

Statewide, the seasonally unadjusted rate for October was at 6.2 percent, down 0.2 percent from September, and down 0.5 percent compared to October 2011.

Among Westford's neighbors, Acton (4.4 to 4.3), Carlisle (4.7 to 4.3), Chelmsford (5.4 to 5.1), Groton (4.9 to 4.6), Littleton (4.7 to 4.3),   and Tyngsborough (6.5 to 6.0) all saw drops in unemployment as well from September to October according to the EOLWD announcement.
