VIDEO: Volunteers Clear Out Trash From Forge Pond

A group is seeking more volunteers for cleanups throughout the month around town.

A host of volunteers spruced up Forge Pond Saturday, collecting about a half-dozen huge trash bags worth of litter. Some of it was recycled.

Westford resident Carmen Chiungos organized the event. She said she was sick of seeing trash near the pond while riding her bike by it.

Her group, the "Westford Litter League Green Team," will hold several more cleanups this month on Saturdays from 8-9 a.m. On Sat., April 23, they will be at Hill Orchard.

Those interested in attending should call Chiungos at 978-692-3515. Volunteers are asked to bring a trash bag.
