This summer we've seen mosquito spraying for potential West Nile Virus and we've seen concern over cyanobacteria coming from algae blooms: which one of these things are more of a concern?
Or, are they both a concern? Maybe neither of them are really all that big of a deal. Or, is there some other health issue that you've been thinking about and should get more attention?
We're looking for your two cents; share your thoughts with us in the comments section.

My two cents: mosquitos are worse. While it is unfortunate not to be able to enjoy a particular lake, this is a hazard that can be avoided. Mosquitos are everywhere and more difficult to get rid of.

For me, the algae. We live on Nab Lake and have two dogs who looooove to swim. It's been a struggle to keep them out and constant worry about an "escapee" who might head for the lake and that cyanobacteria is deadly for dogs...not a nice death either, neurological damage or liver failure, depending on the type.
Mosquitoes, we try not to be out at dusk and wear long sleeves/pants, have bug spray by the back door. I've actually not had many bites at all this year, there aren't many in our neighborhood...maybe because some bats have returned! Yeah!

I think mosquitoes are worse, because of the West Nile Virus.
