Although it's been on the market for a few weeks, a sign went up earlier this week making it clear to all: Stony Brook Acres is for sale.

The property is currently listed for $749,000, and according to town documents, it was purchased by David and Marie Sparks in April 2005 from East Boston Camps caretaker George Fletcher for $625,000.

We will keep you appraised of any new information as we get it.

It is a nice "prime" location and I am sure that it will sell! Which is a shame since I have enjoyed shopping there and I will miss them!!

I wonder if the East Boston Camps, in conjunction with the Town of Westford, has thought about buying it back?

East Boston Camps is already a part of Westford. Its that property that we are not allowed to use during the summer months.

Vicky is spot on. How can we say "no" to the things like infrastructure and education but continue to say "yes" to flushing good money after bad down that drain called East Boston Camps.

Kathleen - what would you propose EBC/Town of Westford do with this property? The last thing we need to spend money on is this given the current financial conditions. How can we say with a straight face that we can't afford this or that in the school systems, in the town infrastructure, etc and then turn around and invest $750k plus the cost to do something with it.

I believe that $445,000 would be a fair price.

I would love to see it turned into a place like Fern's which is located in Carlisle Center. Such a great place.
