POLL: What Should the Focus be in a Town Center Study?

Studies may be coming to examine traffic, parking and other factors of the town center. What should be the primary focus?

At the Westford Board of Selectmen meeting on Tuesday night, Westford town planner Angus Jennings talked about an empty line item that has been kept in the town's highway budget for the past few years regarding a study of the town center.

Although nothing concrete was made in terms of the potential study, it does look like it will eventually be going forward and today we ask you, the readers of Westford Patch, what the main focus of that study should be, if there should be a main focus at all.

As the character of the Center is compromised, a negative impact on parking, safety and traffic occurs.

Would that be a vice versa situation as well? (i.e -- with worsened traffic, parking and pedestrian safety, the character would suffer despite zoning on buildings)

Parking, traffic circulation and congestion are definite issues. However, maintaining the character of the Town Center will be impossible if exceptions continue to be made to site planning requirements and if current zoning regulations are not adhered to and enforced.
