Dear Editor,

I want to extend my sincerest thanks to all those who supported keeping the Westford Farmers Market on the Common where I believe it belongs.

"The environment is where we all meet; where we all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing that all of us share. It is not only a mirror of ourselves, but a focusing lens on what we can become..."
~ Lady Bird Johnson

Sustainable Westford is working to connect the Westford community and beyond to the land and the environment. Working in partnership with members, volunteers and like minded organizations is at the heart of our work.

I hope you will join us soon; whether that is sharing the bounty of fresh, locally grown, produce at our farmers market,  or participating in one of our workshops or volunteering opportunities. Whatever your choice, you will connect with the history and local lore and join a remarkable community of folks  committed to protecting all this for the generations to come.

Sustainable Westford will be hosting an informational  Volunteer Open House for people interested in the various ways to volunteer in town.  Westford Farmers Market -Sustainable Westford - Upcycle It! Healthy Kids Coalition -  Westford Conservation Trust - Trails - Bruce Freeman Rail Trail - League of Women Voters  - Westford Recycling Commission will be represented.

Our Volunteer Open House is May 1 from 7:00 - 8:30 pm at the First Parish Church United.

Sincerely,

Gloria Gilbert

It is also a bogus in that she is thanking supporters only, assuming that the folks opposed to having this in the center were opposed altogether to the FM. That is not the case. Most folks SUPPORT a farmers market. We just did not support the location.

"All" of the Westford Board of Selectman approved the continuance of the Farmer's Market on the Westford Town Common. You all had a chance to attend the Board of Selectman's Meeting and voice your opinion (or you could have sent a letter to them instead). The Selectman solicited comments from the Police and Fire Departments and then public comment (including received letters), and then voted.

I support the Farmer's Market being held on the Westford Town Common and will be attending on a weekly basis, being on Tuesday: June 19th. But, I will be keeping an eye out for both the pedestrian, and car traffic, and making certain that everyone (including the wonderful group of Volunteers from Sustainable Westford, the Selectman, and the Police and Fire Department) implement some "remedial pedestrian measures" to insure everyone's safety.

This all or nothing, accusatory attitude (were you insult the parties involved) must stop!
