How'd Westford Spend The Sales Tax Holiday Weekend?
Did the two day relief from sales taxes pick up business in the area?
The two day sales tax weekend in Massachusetts is now is over, and we're looking to see what impact it had on folks here in Westford.
This year's sales tax holiday passed through the Massachusetts House of Represemtatives by a margin of 153-1 on July 31 and was signed by the Governor on Aug. 7. as part of a bill designed to increase investment in infrastructure and other economic development job growh initiatives.
“A sales tax holiday will increase business activity and give temporary relief to families who have been hit be the economic downturn,” State Representative James Arciero (D-Westford). “I hope this is an additional step in giving tax relief to Massachusetts families and helping our small businesses to survive the recession.”
So, did you shop more in Massachusetts due to the lack of a sales tax? Did you even notice it was happening? Tell us your thoughts!

I think because Westford is so close to the NH border that alot of us shop there normally so not having tax here in MA for 1 w/e really didn't affect us. I would shop more in MA if they did away with the tax permanently. For now I will continue to shop on the DW Highway since it has everything I need right there.

Took the family to MOS, Duck Boat Tour, and restaurants, but not because of the tax holiday. The tax holiday had no bearing on when/where I was going to spend money.

I hope everyone checked their receipts. I still got charged taxes by a fairly well known large merchant. When I questioned the charge, I was told "we don't participate in that."

I buy 95 % of everything in Nashua or from Amazon (no sales tax and my Prime membership gets almost everything delivered in 2 days; even a gas generator!). The 5% of things I buy in Mass result in me kicking myself all the way to the store for not planning better.

Nice to know you are ok with paying your fair share you might not realize t but buying in NH legally means you are responsible for reporting and paying Taxes come tax time to the state, it's like unreported income, the law doesn't let you have it tax free, the law says you must report it. Tax evasion is a crime but I guess thats not POISON so it's cool?
