According to the sign on the door, Holly Hill Framing at Westford Plaza is now officially gone from its Westford location, as of yesterday.

So today we want to ask you what should go into that space now.

We're gonna guess it's probably not going to be a liquor store, real estate agency, sandwich shop, comfort food resturant, shop that sells those fruit sculpture things, hair salon, phone store (well, maybe a phone store, more on that later...), nutrition store, tailor shop, place where "you can get cash for your gold

Then again, maybe it could! Maybe it could just stay vacant!

What do you think? What would you like to put in that location?

Tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Thank you to Paula Eldridge who established Holly Hill Framing, and to her daughter Kristen for carrying on the framing business when he mother retired. The business started in the Eldridges' home on Holly Lane, hence the name, then grew into the retail space at 175 Littleton Road. Central to the shop were the magnificent pen and ink drawings of Westford buildings that Paula created and that now hang, beautifully framed by Holly Hill, in so many Westford homes.
The Roudenbush Westford Directory 1993-94 has the business at Holly Lane, but by the 1995/96 Westford Directory, Paula had moved to Route 110.

Did Kristen shut down completely, or did she move to a different location?

She is moving to Littleton. I actually was looking to have some pictures framed, so I googled, "Picture Framing" per our address and I got her website, but when I clicked on it, I got some url error. So I called and she told me she wasn't taking any new work and that she was moving to Littleton.

As to what should go in there I know the perfect store: A gun shop!

Margo:
I don't know after watching Jefferies in several interviews and meetings, preparing for what I thought would be a debate with him over the gun issue, that guy is veeeeeery placid. I think his heart rate is probably 60. He's too mellow to get a heart attack.
But in seriousness, I wonder if anyone has reached to Kristen about why she's moving? Is it the business climate here? Or is it just a tough business in general?

Ooo! Provided they can keep anything in stock, that's a great idea!

Very sorry to see such a solid, reliable establishment as Holly Hill close its doors and leave Westford. As so many of our friends, we are proud owners of several of Paula's and Kristen's work and will treasure them. Best of luck to you as you move forward. Thank you.

My Top 5 suggestions for the space:

1 - Medical marijuana dispensary (there are a lot of Westford residents with glaucoma)
2 - A good independent book store
3 - A good bakery (there used to be a bakery in that area. Sorely missed!)
4 - A Dairy Queen (the closest one is in Nashua)
5 - An auto parts store (there are none in Westford)

Gun shop. All those new LTC folks are going to need a place to shop. Why let the $ be spent out of town.

With all the medical marijuana dispenary suggestions, I'm surprised nobody has said it should try to get a drive thru! (and for those of you just joining us, there's a warrant article regarding both dispensaries and drive thrus at Town Meeting...)

No space for a drive thru at the location. They could do call ahead service like Chilis and 99 and they will bring your order out to you when you pull up.

They are jokes, but if you don't get the joke, maybe we should be serious?

KB: the only way to control what goes in the space is to rent it yourself!

Thanks, Steven. Glad to hear I just wasn't in on the joke! Vincent, true enough, but that's not an option so I'll just have to wish.

Split the space and put in the “Pot Palace” on one side and the “Munchy Madness Bakery” next to it.
Sales will be through the roof in both places.

It could be an AFT themed store, that surely will bring in a lot of traffic. Think of the spinoff sales. food beverage, gas sales... a boone to the economy.

Sorry to see frame shop go; I got two watercolors matted and glassed there. Well let's see, bookstore good idea, gun shop a serious notion with an educational element; another bakery or cutesy trinket shop? DVD rental/sales? Back to art like as in art supplies! Auto parts good too. Good luck out there.

I'd love to see an ethnic bakery, considering MB and soon whole foods will be coming to town. They both offer baked goods but nothing really to interesting.

Either a gambling casino or a marijuana dispensary. This is what your one party government is bringing you in Massachusetts. Happy times!

Mexican Restaurant or book store. But a gun shop would certainly do great business. Jefferies Ammo Emporium.
