Five Reasons Why Westford Is Better Than Acton

Grey Ghost fans will be cheering for Westford Academy on Thursday, but here are five reasons to cheer for Westford every day.

Once again, Westford Academy is wrapping up its football season against hated archrival Acton-Boxborough as the two teams square off in their perennial Turkey Day showdown.

The day marks a cresting of local pride throughout town, but we wanted to share some reasons why we think Westford is better than Acton not just today, but every day.

#1. A Growing Business Sector: From Goodrich to Red Hat, Westford is quickly becoming a chic location for corporations large and small, with products from Westford-based companies ranging from sneakers to cosmetic lasers to the largest privately owned solar plant in the Commonwealth.

#2. Lauded Schools: People come from far and wide to enroll their children in Westford schools, but despite the district’s reputation, Westford actually pays less per pupil than any other district in the Dual County League.

And that’s not even including Westford’s other high school.

#3. Westford’s Close To Everywhere: Nestled between the Merrimack Valley, Northern Middlesex County and MetroWest regions of Massachusetts, Westford is about an hour from Boston, about an hour from the ocean, ten minutes to New Hampshire.

#4. The Westford Code:  Westford is allegedly home to the secret base of medieval knights that travelled to America, and it’s definitely home to History Channel celebrities that talk about the legend that is the Westford Knight.

#5. A Passion For Pizza: From Bamboo to Kimball Farm, Westford’s got plenty of great places to eat, but in November Westford Patch readers showed their passion for the town’s ten pizza places in particular. Meanwhile, what do our Thanksgiving foes have? Pizza places named after Star Wars characters!

And that’s only five reasons for why Westford’s great. If we missed reasons you want to share with us, contribute your photos and share your comments with us below!
