Deep Playoff Runs Continue for Two Grey Ghost Teams

The girls hockey and girls basketball teams hope to keep plugging away in their respective brackets.

The dream is still alive for a pair of Westford Academy teams.

Grey Ghosts Continue Success on Ice

The No. 3 Westford Academy girls hockey team opened with a first round bye in the Division 1 tournament before handling Arlington, 2-0, in its initial tilt of the playoffs.

As a result, the Lady Grey Ghosts skate against No. 11 Acton-Boxboro on Wednesday night. The game time has not yet been posted, but the contest will take place at Woburn's O'Brien Rink.

The winner of the game will skate against either Beverly/Danvers or Arlington Catholic, with the victor in that game moving on to play for the championship at TD Garden.

Westford Also Finding Success on the Hardwood

So far, it's been on contest for the girls basketball team.

After its own first round bye, the Grey Ghosts thumped Revere, 70-35, in the opening round before cruising past Lexington, 82-44, to advance to the North Division 1 semifinals.

Next up is Billerica in a game scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. at Whittier Tech.

If the Grey Ghosts win, they'll take on either Andover or Central Catholic in the bracket final, scheduled for Saturday at Lowell's Tsongas Center.
