Congresswoman Niki Tsongas Gets Tour of Red Hat

Tsongas was invited to the Littleton Road facility as part of the company's pending expansion.

With expected expansion of their Littleton Road facility coming soon, invited Congresswoman Niki Tsongas (D-Lowell) on Wednesday for a quick tour of the facility and a discussion about the future of the company here in Westford.

For Red Hat president of products and technology Paul Cormier, the TIF and a renewal of their lease with the Gutierrez group marks a drastic change from his days commuting from North Carolina as the first Red Hat employee in the Commonwealth.

“The surveyors are out here this week, the contract is signed, and the design is well underway,” he said. “We’re bursting at the seams here right now, so we have plans to grow.”

Overall, Cormier expects the expansion in Westford to be a major part of the company’s plans to hire 1,000 new employees at all of their locations.

Tsongas, who represents Westford in the U.S. House of Representatives, sees the announcement as a positive indication that the Commonwealth is performing well when it comes to attracting and creating top notch jobs.

“We have a remarkable array of companies, which I think has to do with our educated workforce,” said Tsongas. “And as we’ve heard here at Red Hat, people want to live in Massachusetts because of who we are, our proximity to the ocean and the mountains, the history, and the great quality of life.”
