With the beginning of the baseball season, we went around to Westford area grocery stores to check out the prices of some baseball related items recommended by our readers.

What's the most baseball-esque thing you can buy at the supermarket? Well, there's...

• Fried chicken (hearkening back to last fall if you want to be negative, or Wade Boggs if you want to be positive)
• Fenway Franks
• Peanuts and Crackerjack (combined prices here)
• Hood Red Sox themed ice cream 
• Chocolate milk (as we learned a few weeks ago, chocolate milk is the ultimate sports drink apparently, and baseball is a sport.)

And just some things to keep in mind here.

• We took prices of the Hampton Farms' Red Sox licensed shelled peanuts. Non-licensed shelled peanuts from Hampton Farms were several cents cheaper.
• Non-shelled peanuts are generally in the snack aisle, but shelled peanuts were in the produce departments of these grocery stores except for Hanneford, where they are in Aisle 9. At Donelan's, they're also in the frozen food section next to the Fenway Franks in addition to the produce department.
• We took prices of the beef/pork Fenway Franks, not the all-beef Fenway Franks.
• Crackerjack sizes: Market Baskets, Shaw's = 3 oz., Stop and Shop = 2.75 oz., Hannaford = 4.25 oz., Donelan's = 7 oz. Peanuts were 12 oz.
