13 week old Jason is working hard on his training to become an Assistance Dog with Canine Companions for Independence( CCI). CCI needs puppy raisers to help in their mission to train and place assistance dogs with people with disabilities. Might you be interested in raising one of these little miracles? Attend our session on Saturday, March 9 at 2pm at Especially for Pets, 424 Boston Post Rd, Sudbury. Visit www.especiallyforpets.com for more information.
Meet volunteer Puppy Raisers and see if your family has what it takes to take an active part in changing the life of a disabled person for the better. Puppy Raisers provide a safe and loving home to assistance dogs for the first 18 months of their life. They also take them to obedience classes, offer them a healthy diet, socialization opportunities, and give them lots of love! Ultimately these puppies will learn how to retrieve items from the floor, turn light switches on and off, open and close drawers, and pull a wheelchair. Pre-registration is not required. For questions or more information, email laniecantor@gmail.com.
CCI is a nationwide, non-profit organization that provides assistance dogs to people with disabilities other than blindness. Each hour spent caring for a CCI puppy is vital to its development as a future assistance dog. The CCI Puppy Raising Program provides a unique opportunity for volunteers to assist CCI with its very important mission. For general information about CCI, visit their website atwww.cci.org.
