Health Alert on West Nile Virus and Spraying Plans
The attached .pdf file contains information concerning recent developments in Westford concerning West Nile Virus (WNV).
The Massachusetts Dept. of Public Health (MDPH) announced on 8-1-12 that a mosquito sampled from a surveillance site in Westford is confirmed to have WNV. To be proactive and take measures to protect public health and safety, the Westford Board of Health (WBOH) has autorized Central MA Mosquito Control Project (CMMCP) to spray the roadways in the area of closest proximity to where the positive mosquito pool was found.
This .pdf attachment contains the roads that will be included in the spraying, when the spraying will occur, precautions residents should take, the process for opting out of the spraying plan, and detailed information on WNV, its symptoms and preventative measures.
All of this information is also posted on the WBOH webpage at www.westfordma.gov and click "Public Health" from the left side bar. You may also call the WBOH at 978-692-5509.
