Here is a preview of the latest boating trends to look out for at the 2013 Progressive Insurance New England Boat Show:
Pod drives, joystick docking. For the latest in propulsion systems, pod drive power has made a huge splash in the recreational boating market. Cummins and Volvo Engine will be on hand displaying their newest models with pod drive power. Pod drive systems offer boaters an alternative to diesel inboard systems and eliminate the need for struts, shafts and rudders. This compact propulsion system also creates more room onboard, improves overall fuel efficiency and makes the boats lighter and faster. With a joystick-like engine control, the system is also easy and efficient to maneuver and dock.
Small, versatile boats leading recovery for recreational boating industry. Currently, boats under 27 feet make up 96 percent of the 12.4 million registered boats in the U.S. This year Sea Ray is introducing its new 21’ foot jet boat, the Jet 21, for the first time in New England at the boat show. These fast, small, affordable and easy to maneuver vessels are the ideal fit for sporting and recreational boaters. Yamaha will also be displaying their line of jet boats at this year’s show for eager captains to climb aboard.
Also on deck at this year’s boat show will be one of America’s favorite boats, the pontoon. This versatile boat is making waves in a new way and has seen a major evolution in their design, technology and appeal. Pontoon boats satisfy a wide range of boating lifestyles from families looking for a fun day out on the water to new boaters interested in a relaxing cruise. Visitors can compare and browse more than 80 pontoon boats from at least 16 manufacturers.
Boaters on a budget have boat loads to choose from as more than 30 manufacturers at the boat show introduce several power- and sailboats for every budget and lifestyle, with many available for less than $250 per month.
