Academy of Notre Dame Produces Christmas CD

While many don’t begin to think about the Christmas season until the Black Friday flyers start arriving, a group of Academy of Notre Dame students have been focused on it for much longer.

For the third year, the Academy of Notre Dame Glee Club has recorded a Christmas CD that showcases the full range of musical talents of the young high school women.  Entitled “From Our Home to Yours”, the CD comprises a wide range of selections from Christmas classics to some with a more modern touch.

Music instructor Clarissa Samuels and Senior Nora Mello led the project that began earlier this summer with researching musical selections, musicians and licensing requirements for the selections. The Academy gratefully acknowledges an anonymous donor to the Music Department for their support.

From Our Home to Yours includes 12 songs: Ring Those Christmas Bells, Oh What a Beautiful Morning, Traditions (by Chip Davis of Mannheim Steamroller), My Favourite Time of the Year (by the Florian Street Band), There’s No Place Like Home for the Holidays, When Child is Born (by the Moody Blues) with a flute solo by Nora Mello, I’ll Be Home for Christmas sung by 2012 Alum Bethany McNamara and piano solos by Mello – Some Children See Him, Go Tell it on the Mountain and Silent Night.

The CD, which was co-produced by Mello of Groton, MA, was recorded at The Space Recording Studio in Lowell Ma.

Only a limited number of CDs will be produced. Cost is $10/per and the CDs will need to bepicked up at the Academy at 180 Middlesex Road, Tyngsboro, MA. A small shipping and handling fee will be charged for mail orders. Those interested in reserving a copy of Voices of Christmas in advance, should e-mail Ms. Samuels at csamuels@ndatyngsboro.org.
